Our focus
We live in a society which tends to function as if everything is separate and disconnected. We typically do not make the connection between our actions and the consequences of those actions. As individuals in society we acknowledge our rights but seem to place less emphasis on our responsibilities.
The Bulmer Foundation seeks a shift from this mindset, to a more holistic world view, where interconnections are acknowledged and understood.
Making these connections – or reconnections – is both a learning and a healing process. It changes the way we live our lives and reminds us that we, individually and collectively, impact on each other and on the fragile planet we inhabit, with its finite resources.
We aim to make a difference initially ‘in our own back yard’ by acting locally and having a clear set of priorities. Since our core belief is that all things are connected, we integrate our own work with the work of others. On this basis we are delighted to have formed so many positive partnerships with other organisations – locally, regionally and nationally – who are working towards the same aims.
Our activities cover rural land use, health, education, business and food. We see these as interrelated aspects of an overall approach to sustainable development appropriate to our location in England’s most rural county.
